March 12th: Governor Bill Richardson signs SB10 to make the ban on cockfighting law in the State of New Mexico!
March 8th: House of Representatives passes SB10 by a vote of 49-20.
February 28th: SB10 is on the temporary calendar for the House and should be heard on the floor very soon.
February 24th: SB10 was heard before the House Agriculture and Water Resources Committee and received a vote of 6-1.

February 8th: SB10 was voted on by the full Senate. A total of six amendments were introduced by Senators Phil Griego and Rod Adair. Two of these amendments were adopted by the Senate which included reducing the penalties for participating in cockfighting matches to a petty misdemeanor charge on the first offense, a misdemeanor charge on the second offense and a 4th degree felony charge for the third and subsequent offenses and the other amendment adopted took away any penalties for being a spectator at a cockfight.
February 5th: SB10 had a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee and received a "Do Pass" by a vote of 7 to 3 with an amendment to reduce the penalties to a misdemeanor on the first offense and a felony charge for the second and subsequent offenses.
February 1st: SB 10 had its first hearing before the Senate Conservation Committee and received a "Do Pass" by a vote of 5 to 3
January 25, 2007: A hearing date for the Bill for Ban Cockfighting, SB10, has been set for Thursday, February 1, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. in Room 311 at the State Capitol Building at 400 Old Santa Fe Trail, Santa Fe, NM. January 17, 2007: Senator Mary Jane Garcia (D-Dona Ana) introduces Senate Bill (SB) 10 to ban cockfighting. SB10 is referred to the Senate Conservation and Senate Judiciary Committees.
January 16, 2007: Start of the 2007 Legislative Session. Governor Bill Richardson announces in his State of the State that he supports a ban on cockfighting.
